How to write the reference page ??

There are three simple rules to write a reference:

1- You have to differentiate between articles, journals, and books. Mr. Harrison sent us an e-mail with the new list of sources and wherever it is written (not needed), it means that this is a journal.

a. If it is a book:
Authors i . Title of the book ii . Place of publication iii : name of the
publishing company iv ; year . page numbers vp.
i. When you write the authors names: last name then initials - for example:
Harrison D with no full stop between the initials, BUT you have to put a comma ( , ) between the authors names if there is more than one author.
ii. When you write the book title: the first world ONLY starts with a capital letter, other letters MUST be small
iii. The city name or the state name. for example: Chicago or Philadelphia
iv. The name of the company must be as it is
v. The page numbers must be written like this 453p.

b. If it is a journal:
Authors i . Paper Title ii : subtitle iii . Name Of Magazine iv year v month vi day ; volume number (issue number vii) : page numbers viii .
i. When you write the authors names: last name then initials - for example: Harrison D with no full stop between the initials, BUT you have to put a comma ( , ) between the authors names if there is more than one author.
ii. When you write the paper title: the first world ONLY starts with a capital letter, other letters MUST be small
iii. The title that is found under the large heading
iv. All The Words Should Be Started With Capital Letters
v. The year in numbers of course and each article must have a year of publication, it could also be the year of copy right. For example ©2004 (as in source B) is the publication year
vi. The month should be in its short form. For example Jan instead of January BUT do not put a full stop after the short form! for example do not write 2007 Jan. 16 this is wrong. You have to say for example 2007 Jan 16
vii. The issue number MUST be between two parenthesis ( ) NOT between two brackets [ ]
viii. The page numbers should be separated by a dash if they are more that one. For example 300-303. Full stop must be written directly after the page numbers without writing the letter p as we did in the books’ reference.

No need for the website address.

c. If it is an article:
Authors i . Paper Title ii : subtitle iii . Name Of Magazine iv year v month vi . Available from website vii . Accessed year month day .
You have to say for example 2007 Jan 16
vii. The website you can copy and past it from the new list of sources.
viii. When you want to write the day that you accessed the article on you should write it like this: the month should be in its short form. For example Jan instead of January BUT do not put a full stop after the short form! for example do not write 2007 Jan. 16 this is wrong. You have to say for example 2007 Jan 16 this is right way to do it

The website address is very important.

2- You MUST have a copy of your original paper with the references and page numbers on it. So you have copy the entire document and change its name (you can name it “final draft” for example). In the new document, start erasing all the page and paragraph numbers first, then you can change the letters of the references into numbers. This is because if you changed the letters into numbers without erasing the page and paragraph numbers, you may get confused between the paragraph number and the source number and you then you will be LOST (I am not talking about the TV series!!). :)

3- You should write the references for each source, while you still have their letters on them (on the reference). I mean do not write the reference and number it and change it in you research paper in the same time!! You have to write the references page as if it is a list of sources (organized by letters). This is because if you changed them into numbers and then you added any information to the research, the whole numbering must be changed and you will be in a big trouble. So please change them into number after finishing the whole research and I wish you never change them before Tuesday. This is because if you added any new information, all the order will be missed up and the numbering will be wrong and you will spend at least 3 hours just trying to figure out the right sources order.

Very simple rules ..
